CSN collects rigorous and regular data on our impact in three areas: student enrolment, student attendance and student learning.
Student learning is assessed through a continuous assessment system and bi-annual 1-2-1 assessments.
We have recently completed a 3-year independent research project to measure the impact of our work on students’ learning. Students in six CSN-managed schools and six similar government schools were assessed twice a year through 1-2-1 assessments. The research involves all students in Class 1 – 3 in Maths, English and Nepali. The assessments are carried out by an independent research group.
The results show that students in CSN-managed schools are progressing at almost twice the rate of students in equivalent government schools. Overall, last year students in CSN-managed schools improved their test scores by 24.8% compared to 12.6% among students in comparable government schools.
The final report on the project concludes: “The findings provide robust evidence for the effectiveness and scalability of CSN’s school management model, showing not only greater overall progress [than comparable government schools] but also more equitable improvement.”
