Two of our students, a brother and sister, have not been to school for a week. The phone number we have for their mother doesn’t work and no one knows their address.
So this afternoon, with photos of the students in hand, and a rough idea where they live, myself and four other teachers set out after school to find them.
It took about two hours of searching, but eventually we found ourselves in an alley with small, dark rooms on either side, and when we looked into one of them…
…out came one of our missing students!
None of this is remarkable, except that one of the teachers said, “Before you joined us, we would never have even bothered to look for them.”
